TAMPA POLICE MAKE AN ARREST FROM A SHOOTING YESTERDAY. OFFICERS FOUND MALIK MAYNARD TODAY AFTER AN INVESTIGATION LED THEM TO HIS VEHICLE. MAYNARD IS WANTED FOR THE DEATH OF A 28-YEAR-OLD MAN FOUND SHOT ON THE CORNER OF NORTH FIFTY-THIRD STREET. MAYNARD IS NOW CHARGED WITH MURDER AND POSSESSION OF A FIREARM.

TAMPA POLICE MAKE ARREST IN HOMICIDE

Victim Info:  28 year old black male

Suspect Arrested: Malik A. Maynard (09/17/1996)

 

Details:  Tampa Police received a 911 call at approximately 12:52 PM on August

31 for the report of "shots fired" in the 3400 block of N. 53rd St. Officers were immediately dispatched to the area. Upon arrival, an adult black male was found lying in the front yard, deceased from a gunshot wound.

 

Detectives began developing leads, quickly identifying Malik Maynard as the suspect.

 

On September 1, the investigation led officers to the suspect's vehicle at

14426 Hellenic Drive. Officers maintained surveillance, confirmed the suspect was in the vehicle, and apprehended Maynard without incident.

 

Maynard was transported to Orient Road Jail, charged with Murder in the First Degree and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
